This course is suited to adults looking to enter private security roles such as guarding, site security, retail security and other security officer positions.
No previous security experience is required for many entry-level pathways. Learners should meet the applicable age and right-to-work requirements.
It can also suit people already working around security environments who want formal training for a new or expanded role.
The duties of an SIA Security Guard in a security role can vary depending on their job role and the specific requirements of their employer. However, some common duties of an SIA Security Guard may include:
Security guards are often required to patrol an area or stand guard at a particular location to deter crime and provide reassurance to the public.
Security guards may be responsible for monitoring CCTV systems and alarm systems to detect and respond to potential security threats.
Security guards may need to conduct searches of people or vehicles entering premises to ensure that prohibited items are not brought in.
In the event of an incident, such as a fire or a security breach, security guards are expected to respond quickly and effectively to minimize harm and prevent further damage.
Security guards may be required to interact with members of the public and provide assistance or information when necessary.
Security guards are often required to write reports detailing any incidents or observations during their shifts.
